Which countries are most welcoming to refugees?

U.K. — The UK’s Prime Minister Theresa May said Monday she welcomes more refugees, and Britain expects that figure to grow.

In a speech at a campaign rally, May said that Britain’s response to the influx of refugees in Europe has been “lame.”

“It has been a failure of leadership,” May said.

“We have made the mistake of saying ‘let’s get people through this.'”

The U.S. has welcomed just a small percentage of the more than one million refugees the country has taken in since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The number of refugees resettled in the U.N. refugee agency has grown to nearly 5,000.
